Tracking Devices/ Prepaid Phones

When it comes to implanting tracking devices into young children and older people who are suffering from alzheimer's I don't actually think that's a terrible idea. I feel like it would decrease the number of kidnappings and runaways by a significant amount which would be a very positive thing. With the fast pace of today's world it would be good to know where your children are at all times especially when you're not with them. The same goes for older people suffering from memory loss. The tracking shoes would probably be a better less invasive technique to use for both young children and the elderly. Especially because i don't feel like teenagers or kids in their twenties need to be tracked by their parents once they are living on their own. The tracking shoes would be easy for young kids to wear as well as older people and it wouldn't be a permanent thing so one they were no longer needed they can just stop wearing the shoes instead of having to get an implanted chip removed from their body.

I feel like there aren't very many legitimate reasons to why someone would need a prepaid cell phone other than the fact that they might not be able to afford a regular cell phone plan. Other than that i feel like the only time i've ever heard of people using them was for negative reasons such as not wanting to be able to be traced or so that certain secret phone calls can go to that phone while all other normal calls go to their regular cell phone. I think that they should have to be registered just like all the other phones in the world so everyone is on the same level and there would be no questions left about it.

  1. I wrote about similar ideas and thoughts in my blog that you have written in yours. I think that having the tracking device on small children and elderly people would have a lot of benefits, but when it comes to teenagers and middle aged people, there are less reasons that they should have them. Kidnapping happens at all ages though, so I guess that could be a reason for teenagers to still have the tracking device. I also discussed in my blog about how some people may not be able to afford a phone with a contract, so a prepaid one is a good alternative.

  2. The tracking devices could decrease runaways and things but there are also some negative things that could be possible. Predators could end up accessing children ID and then know the where abouts of that child at all times which would put the child at danger. Also think about the pain the child or senior would have to undergo just to get the chip inserted. so I do agree the tracking shoes would be a better idea.

  3. I partially agree with you. I agree that the tracking chip does sound like a good idea if it is used right. But I think it should stop after a few years (1-3) and for good. If you are tracking your 16 year old kid that is too far and should be ended. At that point the parent should get a better relationship with their kid or learn to deal with it because that would be a huge invasion of privacy for the child. I think the shoes idea would work but not as good as the chip because the shoes can be taken off and even misguide the people looking the person. Over all I believe that the tracking chip is a good idea.

  4. I agree that tracking devices would reduce the number of kidnappings and runaways. If children knew they would be found really easily there would be no point in running away in the first place. Also, kidnappers would feel less inclined to kidnap a child if they knew the child's whereabouts could be found out almost instantaneously. For the prepaid cell phone I also agree that everyone should be on an equal playing field. If I can be traced with my phone then it should be the same way for everyone else especially when those who do not want to be tracked are those who do not want to be tracked for unethical and criminal reasons.

  5. I disagree and think that tracking devices should not be used at all. Parents need to keep an eye on their young children and not let them walk through parking lots 50 yards behind them. They need to raise their children right so that they will not run away and behave the way they are supposed to. I don't agree with anyone having the chips.
